MY VISIT TO SENEGAL
2004 & 2016
My first visit to Senegal came at the end of a three month trek through four countries. It was Ramadan when I arrived in Dakar and the whole city was quiet except at night when every corner comes alive. I returned in 2016 after a long awaited desire to resume my previous trip which was cut short. This time I stayed in the North on the island of Saint-Louis. For three months I made art with other international artists-in-residence. The family that adopted me made attaya everyday! If you can find Senegalese food in your city, go eat it! Thiéboudienne is my favorite.
